Judith Klostermann is working within the ESS-CC team of Alterra on a research project IC12 about governance of climate adaptation, which is part of the Climate changes Spatial Planning project. Other projects are on stakeholder involvement in the Wadden Academy, characteristics of transdisciplinary research, negotiation of uncertainties in the South-Western Delta of the Netherlands, and knowledge management in regional planning processes. Her area of expertise is policy science, which is applied in the water and climate domain.

| She has been working as a scientific programme officer for the National Research Programme Climate changes Spatial Planning, located at Wageningen University, between 2004 and 2008. She wrote a dissertation on the social construction of sustainability in Dutch water companies at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Tilburg University, which was finished in 2003. Between 1990 and 1997 she worked as a scientific officer in the area of environmental policy and management at TNO, Delft and TNO, Apeldoorn. She has a Masters degree in Biology from the University of Utrecht. |

The EU BRIDGE project (sustainaBle uRban plannIng Decision support accountinG for urban mEtabolism) has been launched to assist urban planners in decision making on sustaibability issues. The core of the BRIDGE project is the development of a computer based information system (DSS). The DSS aims to assist urban planners in decision making on the following components of urban metabolism: energy, water, carbon and pollutants. The Bridge project will use Communities of Practice as an approach to organize the interaction between professionals in the field of urban planning and urban scientists (BRIDGE researchers). The intention is to launch BRIDGE Communities of Practice in five case study cities i.e., in Helsinki, London, Gliwice, Firenze and in Athens. Zie ook

De Waddenacademie heeft zichzelf ten doel gesteld om een integrale, gedragen visie te ontwikkelen op toekomstige kennisontwikkeling voor het Waddengebied. Als bijdrage aan deze visie is een analyse uitgevoerd van de kennisbehoefte bij beleidsmakers en andere belanghebbende partijen in het Waddengebied. Uit de interviews kwam naar voren welke thema’s de respondenten bezighouden. De meeste discussie wordt opgeroepen op de gebieden bestuur, natuur en economie. Er is behoefte aan meer integrale kennis en aan toekomstscenario’s. Er lijkt geen systematische aanpak te bestaan voor het onderbouwen van beleid met wetenschap. De Waddenacademie zou ook een specialist moeten worden in kennisuitwisseling tussen wetenschap en beleid. Zie ook
