Visiting and Postal address
My name is Michelle van Vliet and I work as a PhD student within the FP6 WATCH EU project (since July 2008). After receiving my MSc degree in physical geography from Utrecht University in 2006, I worked as hydrologist/researcher at TNO-Deltares, unit subsurface and groundwater systems in Utrecht.
Research interests
- global/regional water resources modeling
- climate change
- water availability and water quality
Current research
In my PhD study, I focus on the impact of climate change on river discharge and water temperature of large rivers globally. To address this, I use the Variable Infiltration Capacity (VIC) model and a deterministic stream temperature model. This PhD study is part of the FP6 Water and Global Change (WATCH) European Union project and is performed in collaboration with the Land Surface Hydrology Research Group of University of Washington.
