Visiting and Postal address

In January 2009 I graduated in Earth System Science at Wageningen University. I am very interested in this field of research and decided to accept the offer of a temporary research position until January 2010. During this time I have, amongst others, the opportunity to write a research proposal for a PhD project.

I live in Wageningen and my interests are playing cello, reading, traveling. My intention is to start rowing this year.

Research interests

  • climate change
  •  climate adaptation
  •  the influence of climate change on fresh/salt water
  •  hydrological modeling

Present research

Subject of my PhD-proposal: ‘The international dimensions of (Dutch) climate adaptation policy.’
This subject was suggested by Rob Swart and Wiebren Kuindersma. There is limited recognition of international scale in national adaptation strategies. My job would be to research in which way international policy can be an obstruction or an impulse for national and local climate adaptation. Another element will be knowledge transfer; which technical and scientific information is necessary for development of policy, what information should be specifically developed for local scale and what knowledge should be shared at international levels.

My position will be shared between Earth System Science group and Forest and Nature Conservation Policy group in the Gaia building. This means that I will divide my time between the two groups.

Publications
